Cat C1 Ambulance Driver Training in Guildford, Surrey
As one of the most highly rated driver trainers in the area and pass rates consistently around 95% you will be glad you called!!
We are one of the most popular choices when it comes to Cat C1 training for driving ambulances, we will guide you through the whole process from the initial DVLA application, right through to passing the practical tests!
Passed your theory? this is where we come into play!
Pass in our auto and gain a manual C1 licence!
Yes that’s right! DVSA rules state that if you hold a manual car licence, you can take any higher category test, such as the C1 test, in an automatic vehicle and gain a manual licence in that category! We use a modern Mercedes Sprinter, very similar to the ambulances you’ll be driving!
The Training
Our practical training sessions will get you through the two practical tests needed to be able to pass your C1 licence.
- Module 3A is the reversing exercise.
- Module 3B is the on-road driving test.
It’s worth noting you DO NOT need to pass modules 2 and 4 driver CPC initial qualification if you will be driving an ambulance for the NHS.
The training consists of initially completing the Module 3a reversing exercise which is reversing the vehicle in an S-shaped pattern into a bay. This is tested in-house at a DVSA Approved Training Area where you will receive training from Matt, and a colleague will conduct the test.
This then leaves the on-road driving in the Guildford area with the Module 3b on-road test completed on the final day. The standard required for this is high, but Matt’s training program will give you time to improve your driving skills, eliminate any bad habits that may have crept in, and also give you vital test route familiarisation along with all the hotspots that have the potential to cause issues to the unsuspecting!
During your practical road driving, the examiner will see how you:
- use the vehicle controls
- move away at an angle, uphill and downhill
- pull up in various safe locations.
- use the mirrors
- give appropriate signals
- show awareness and anticipation of other road users’ intentions
- manage your progress and control your vehicle speed
- deal with hazards
- select a safe place to stop
There will also be 10 minutes of independent driving, designed to test your ability to drive safely while making independent decisions.
The overall drive is 1 hour in total – that’s a long time to keep every aspect of your driving spot-on and not lapse any concentration!
If you are a confident manual car driver, a two-day course is suitable. If you are not, longer courses are available. Please get in contact to discuss your requirements.
Pass Protection is also available for just £200, giving you an additional two hours of training and another practical re-test, should you need it.
